Sparkum Website

A marketing site for an all-in-one social media tool, redesigned to feel fun, friendly and built for everyone, not like another boring SaaS page.

Sparkum website redesign: dark pages with a hero reading "Plan and Manage Your Posts Effortlessly", a Plan, Create, Schedule path and a blog section.

Overview

Sparkum is a web app for managing social media in one place. Instead of jumping between a dozen tabs to post content, check numbers and reply to people, users can publish to all their platforms, see what's performing well and what isn't, and engage with followers across every platform from a single tool, at a lower price than the alternatives.

The product solved a real problem, but the old website didn't sell it well. Sparkum brought me in because they weren't happy with the previous design, and the marketing site was the first thing we rebuilt.

The problem

Social media managers and small businesses waste time switching between tabs and tools. Sparkum's answer is one tool for everything, but the website needed to communicate that quickly and make people want to try it.

The previous design didn't reflect the product or the people it was built for. Sparkum isn't only for big marketing teams; it's for anyone managing social media. The site needed to feel open and approachable to that wide audience.

My role

I was the only designer on the project, working directly with the founder. On the website I handled:

  • Web design and UI/UX
  • Graphic design for the site's visuals
  • Video editing for product and marketing content

Process

  1. Started with the marketing site. Since the website is the first thing new users see, we tackled it before the app.
  2. Designed, then built. I designed the pages first, then they were built from those designs.
  3. Iterated together. We'd pick a direction, then often find a better way to do it while reviewing. These rounds shaped the final design.
  4. Carried the look into the app. Once the site was done, the same visual direction fed into the redesign of the Sparkum web app.

Key decisions

Fun over generic.

Most SaaS marketing sites look the same: plain, corporate and forgettable. I chose a clean but fun look so Sparkum would stand out and feel friendly from the first scroll.

Designed for everyone.

Sparkum is meant for lots of different people, not just experts. The design keeps things simple and welcoming so anyone can understand what the product does and feel it's for them.

Clean underneath the fun.

The playful style sits on a clean, organized layout, so the message ("everything in one tool, for less") stays clear and easy to scan.

Challenges

The biggest challenge was iteration. We would agree on a design, then spot a better approach while reviewing it together. That meant a lot of rounds, but working through them with the founder pushed the design further than the first versions, and it came together in the end.

Results

  • The new marketing site is live at sparkum.net.
  • It set the visual direction that carried into the Sparkum web app redesign.
  • The product is fully functional and ready for real users.

What I learned

The first good design is rarely the final one. Working side by side with the founder taught me to stay open during reviews, because each round of "what if we tried this?" pushed the site further. I also learned that a SaaS site doesn't have to be boring to be clear. Fun and clarity can work together.
